Dr. Michelle McDonald


Dr. Michelle McDonald is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with children, adolescents, young adults and families. Dr. McDonald specializes in helping navigate trauma, mood, personality and thought disorders. Beginning her career as an educator and later school psychologist, Dr. McDonald is particularly knowledgeable about the difficult intersection of learning abilities and mental health. She focuses on a whole child approach and seeks to integrate/collaborate care across medical, educational, social and familial domains.

Dr. McDonald graduated with a dual bachelors degree in education and psychology. After teaching in NYC and navigating trauma responses with students following the fall of the twin towers, she pursued her specialist degree in school psychology from St. John’s University in Queens, NY. Dr. McDonald obtained her PhD from the University of Florida. Over the course of higher education Dr. McDonald completed two internships and a post-doctoral residency in clinical psychology in specialized (EBD) and day treatment programs located within public school settings. Most recently Dr. McDonald worked for a children’s hospital in Jacksonville, FL where she provided hospital follow-up after psychiatric inpatient stays, outpatient care including individual and group therapy to children, adolescents and families and helped families alternate levels of care in order to best meet their wellness needs.

In addition to clinical work, Dr. McDonald has been an expert contributor for numerous articles and a television spot regarding children’s mental health. Dr. McDonald is married and has three children. She likes to read, exercise, travel, and bake with her kids.
