Therapy FAQs

We offer both virtual telehealth visits and in person. You can even utilize a mix of both. Work with your provider to set up the best plan for you.

Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a provider offering EMDR. However we are looking to add this to our services soon so please check back in with us.

We provide care for all ages: children, adolescents and teens, young adults, adults and seniors.

We are not able to prescribe medications at FamilyFirst. However, we do have a list of trusted psychiatrists we refer to for evaluations and medication management and are happy to work with them to coordinate your care. Often a combination of medication and therapy is the most effective treatment.

Certain providers at Family First are PSYPACT licensed, which allows them to see clients through telehealth out of state. Check the PSYPACT Map to see if your state participates.

Testing FAQs

After discussing your needs with our friendly practice manager you will be matched up with a licensed clinical psychologist who is experienced in psycho-educational, comprehensive, developmental, IQ, ADHD or autism testing. The psychologist will reach out to you directly to provide additional details about the evaluation process and to schedule the right testing for you.

We start with an initial 90-minute consultation to learn more about you and to come up with a treatment plan. The testing process typically takes 1-2 days depending on the testing battery chosen for you or your child. Don’t worry, breaks and lunch are built into your testing schedule. Approximately two weeks after the testing is completed, you will meet with your provider for the feedback session, which can be done in person or virtually by telehealth. In this feedback session, you will learn about the results and conclusions and you will be given a customized plan to help guide your next steps. Should you or your child have a need to continue with FamilyFirst Psychological for therapy services, you will be matched up with the best fit licensed clinician, and they will reach out to you to schedule.

We typically provide test results and a written report within two weeks of completing the evaluation. We understand that waiting for answers can be stressful for clients and families, so we prioritize timely, thorough feedback. Our providers intentionally ensure each client receives careful attention, detailed analysis, and clear, meaningful results—without unnecessary delays. Our goal is to deliver high-quality assessments efficiently, so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

Psychoeducational testing can help you and your child’s teachers understand how your child learns, thinks, and processes information. It looks at skills that support learning such as attention, memory, language, reasoning and academic achievement.

Testing explores: areas of strengths and difficulties to identify any emotional, social, and behavioral issues, learning differences (such as dyslexia), attention and executive functioning challenges (such as AD/HD), and/or autism.

The psychoeducational evaluation report is thorough and a valuable tool to assist in your child’s social and academic journey. You can utilize it to advocate for your child at school and show eligibility for services such as a 504 plan, IEP or gifted programming. It can guide instruction and advise teachers how best to support your child. It can inform therapy and medication management by documenting diagnoses that you can share with other providers and help support your child at home with clear strategies to help them succeed. Testing is a great first step for your child’s roadmap forward.
