
Dr. Lorine Margeson
She also provides individual psychotherapy across the lifespan (ages 6-89), as well as couples and families, with specialized experience in trauma, military mental health, personality disorders, ADHD, autism, anxiety and mood disorders, and complex family and relational dynamics. In therapy, Dr. Margeson employs a warm, relational style, integrating interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices to support patients in identifying areas of growth, working through barriers, and achieving their personal goals. Each treatment is tailored to the unique needs and backgrounds of the individual or family she works with.
Dr. Margeson graduated magna cum laude from Marymount University in Arlington, VA, where she earned a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in psychology with a minor in forensic psychology. She went on to earn her master’s (M.A.) and doctoral degrees (Psy.D.) from The Chicago School in Washington, D.C. Dr. Margeson’s doctoral dissertation examined the relationship of adverse childhood events, attachment styles, and presence and severity of mental health disorders in U.S. Service Members and Veterans. Her graduate training included pre-doctoral practicums at a Neuropsychology private practice in Georgetown, with rotations at both Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and George Washington University Hospital providing neuropsychological evaluations, and private practices throughout the DMV providing outpatient psychotherapy and assessment services.
Dr. Margeson completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Mid-Atlantic Internship Consortium in Washington D.C., where she provided outpatient therapy and psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Margeson completed a postdoctoral residency at a private practice in Maryland, where she divided her time between individual, family, and couples therapy, psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, and supervision of clinical psychology graduate students in both therapy and assessment services. In addition to her clinical and research interests, Dr. Margeson has a passion for education and mentorship.
Dr. Margeson and her husband have a son and daughter and two dogs. She enjoys traveling, quality time, cooking, photography, and reading.
